Surprising Disease Outbreak!

Camels have a communicable disease too?!!

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome CoronaVirus(MERSCoV).
Research has it that although not quite sure, the disease, popularly know as MERS, emerged from bats and was transmitted to camels sometimes in the past.
It's a virus that comes from a large family of viruses that causes disease ranging from the normal fever to a case of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome(SARS- that is difficulty in breathing and may sometimes cause death).
MERS is a zoonotic virus, meaning it is a virus that is transmitted between humans and animals and humans are infected through direct or indirect contact with infected dromedary camels.

It's Symptoms
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Pneumonia( that is a serious illness in which one or both lungs become red and swollen and filled with liquid)
  • Gastrointestinal symptom( these are just the common sicknesses, like stomach ache, cough, indigestion etc...)
So far 35℅ of humans have been recorded to have died out of the disease. MERS has been found in many countries but mostly in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Republic of Korea, Oman, and Qatar.

Did you know?
The virus attacks or affects more of the aged ones, people with weak immune system and those with chronic disease like, renal disease, cancer, chronic lung disease and diabetes.

Treatment
There hasn't been any specific treatment or cure to the disease or virus, so advice states that anyone visiting farms, markets, barns or anywhere a dromedary camels are found and other animals should be very hygienic, including regular hand washing before and after contact with.

Remember, prevention is better than cure.
A wise man sees danger and stays off, but a foolish one keeps on going...
